It will be a three-way race for the late Robert C. Byrd’s U.S. Senate seat in November as voters decided to pit Democrat Gov. Joe Manchin against Republican John Raese and Mountain Party’s Jesse Johnson.
In one of the most closely watched Senate races in the country, five-term Republican Congressman Mark Kirk and Democratic State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias are battling for the Illinois U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Roland Burris. Burris was appointed to finish President Obama's senate term and opted not to run for re-election.
